Save Pushing Daisies!

I know there are lots of you out there that watch this show. It is my absolute favorite show on TV right now (at least until Battlestar Galactica comes back). It is in danger of being canceled.

If you love this show as much as I do, please click on the link below and help try to save the show!

Organizing

I decided that I had better start organizing the hundreds of digital photos I have on my computer. I downloaded Google's Picasa so I can organize, edit, and tag all my photos. It's a pretty neat little program. I got a lot done today - about 384 photos tagged - but I still have several hundred to go.

I only stopped because my hands were tired of typing, pointing, and clicking.

Next on the list is getting a backup system going, since the old backup computer up and died on us a while ago.

I suppose I ought to try and organize a few physical things around the house too, but mentally it's nice to know I worked on SOMETHING at least.

Flirty Apron Swap

I'm all signed up for my first ever swap! My mom's been doing these for years with ornaments, quilt blocks, hooked rugs, etc. I just never thought there would be one I was interested in. I'm very excited!

If you're interested, sign-up ends Friday, October 24th, so hurry!

Halloween Costume

I am trying to come up with something cheap and easy for Halloween this year. I have a small stash of costumes at home, but most of them have been worn in the last few years. I have:

Dorothy
Wonder Woman
Black Catsuit
Long Black Wig
White Lab Coat
Military Uniform (green wool)

I was thinking that a corpse bride type thing would be cool if I can find an old wedding dress at a thrift store (I'm probably too late for that). I was also thinking of doing something with the lab coat; mad scientist, butcher, etc.

Any good ideas out there?

Cleaning the Boat

Saturday morning we finally got around to cleaning out the boat for winter. I know it was raining and snowing Saturday, but we aren't crazy. We took the boat to Pat's work where it lives all winter in their heated warehouse and cleaned it there.

It took several hours longer than we thought it would, and we still have to protect the vinyl, antioxidize the paint, and wax it (maybe some other weekend, or Pat can do it at work if they're slow and don't have anything else to do).

It was nice being able to work inside, but running around the floor of a warehouse with bare wet feet caused some problems.

This is what our feet looked like. We had to clean them every time we got into the boat, or else we just got it all dirty again.

We also had to watch where we stepped because there were hornets all over the floor. They had apparently started to build nests up a couple of the drainage spouts. As soon as we got water in the boat it pushed them out and onto the floor.

We tried to vacuum them all up so they didn't decide to build nests in the warehouse. Hopefully we got them all.

Cutest Cake Ever!

I just got done making a birthday cake for my brother-in-law. He loves four-wheeling (like us) and so I decided to make him a four-wheeling cake. I have to say, it's my favorite cake yet!!

Frozen Charlottes

We were watching a show last night... well, not so much watching as it was just playing in the background while we picked a new show to watch off the DVR. Something caught my ear, so we backed up to watch.

It was a show about ships they had found in San Francisco while they were digging a foundation for a new building. Apparently sometime in the past the city had sunk old worn out ships and buried them to add new land mass because the city was growing so large.

Several of the ships they found still had some items inside them. One of them contained some dolls called Frozen Charlottes.

I did some research because I had never heard of them before. Apparently they were THE dolls to have in the mid 19th century. All this time and I never knew!

Time for Change

It's that time again - I've got the itch for change. Nothing major, mind you. I just want to rearrange something, somewhere. Mostly my bedroom.

The problem is that there are only two walls that my bed will fit on due to door placement, and one of those walls has a window that I don't really want to cover with my headboard. That leaves me with only one option: the wall the bed is already on.

The recliner is in our room because there isn't any room in the living room, but we want to keep it around for when the basement is done. The giant blue thing is the dog bed. You enter the room bottom right. Top right is the closet, and top middle is the bathroom. Please tell me if you have any brilliant ideas!

I seem to be gathering quite the list of things I would like to change about my house, but moving isn't an option for the foreseeable future. I'll just have to add it to my mental new house wish list.
